Covid Miracles in Hagerstown, Maryland

Hermana Peterson & Trapp!

•On April 10, we had the world wide fast. It was so amazing to see how many of our friends were willing to join us, even if we barely mentioned it. Miss. H joined, and she said she would invite her friends and family. Christine joined us, but can't medically skip food. So she was willing to participate by giving something else up! Ethel & Phil also joined us in the fast!

•Ethel: the Tuesday before quarantine we met her after our district counsel. She was waiting at the bus stop, across the street from the church building! We didnt have a car, and had been waiting at the church for a few minutes. If we hadn't left right then, and had to walk, we never would have met her. We went to her house one time before quarantine! She has also invited her husband and daughter to join our lessons! We've had at least one, if not two lessons a week with them, while in quarantine.

•Angel: we had a church tour with her before quarantine, but only one other lesson. She was super super hard to get in contact with. She just wouldn't respond, or answer her phone. Once quarantine started we have had DAILY contact with her!! For weeks we would read the Book of Mormon together, everynight. We asked her to pray about it. She prayed 3 times!! She then told us, she knows that the Book of Mormon is true! Her mother passed away a few years ago, and that has still be very hard for her. Hna Peterson lost her mom in 2018, so Angel has really trusted us, and been very willing to talk about her mom. Hna Peterson's mom, and Angel's mom, both have many things in common. Lots of little miracles. One day Angel posted about how her mom loves lilacs. Hna Petersons mom also loves them!! Angel brought some over to our apt. Little miracles bring her closer and closer to us.

•Bibles: Hna Peterson & Trapp posted La Santa Biblia on facebook marketplace. We've had over 90 conversations about the Bible, and over 2900 views on the ad! Many of the people have lived out of our mission, but we just are spreading the wealth. One person, named Doug, messaged us and asked if we spoke English (the ad was in Spanish), and if we had a Book of Mormon! We also met our new friends, Jassmine, Rosa, and Leonel! We are getting ready to put Leonel on date. All from a simple Bible ad! The ones out of our mission have also been having a lot of success as well!

Covid Miracles in West York, Pennsylvania

Elder Torres and Elder Jensen (in the West York Ward) have had an amazing miracle during this quarantine!! At the beginning of the lockdown, we started teaching two awesome friends. They live with some members of the ward, and are originally from China. They have been married for a couple months, and they were able to be baptized this Saturday! Only a select few individuals were able to attend, so we held the service over a Zoom video call! The spirit was still so strong and it was an amazing experience. We know that the Lord continues to gather Israel, even if we are stuck inside!!

Covid Quarantine Miracles in Hanover, Pennsylvania

In the 4 weeks of quarantine, we have received 7 referrals. Many of these referrals are seeking to learn more about God. We have only managed to contact a couple of them, but they just keep coming! We are so excited to contact all of our referrals!

We have also been doing some finding on Facebook! We found a couple of people who showed interest in downloading the Book of Mormon app, so we sent them a private message and a link to the Book of Mormon app!

We were able to see a really cool miracle with someone we are teaching. His name is Darren. Darren had texted us a week or so ago to tell us that he wasn't interested anymore, but we kept praying that his heart would be softened and that he would be ready to receive the missionaries again.
Today we got in contact with Darren and he was able to talk to one of our members and now he wants to meet with us again! He and his fiancee, who we are also teaching are praying about a date to be married and are going to work it out with our bishop so they can work on being baptized!

Covid Quarantine Miracles in Winchester, Virginia

This is Sister Case and Sister Mckeen:)
We wanted to share a couple of miracles with you!
One of them was when we were in Winchester, the first night of the quarantine. We were calling a bunch of people trying to set up video lessons and we let our ward know what was going on. At the end of the night, a member of the bishopric made a group with us on messenger and some other people. We were really confused, but then he sent a text telling all the people in the group that we were stuck inside so we needed their help to find people to teach. He asked them who they worked with while serving here that we could reach out to! We realized the group was with a bunch of former missionaries. After he sent that text our phones blew up with messages from these missionaries! That first night we had over 30 referrals of members and non members! Since then those former missionaries have sent a few other people that have been on their minds. We sat there that night crying because we could tell that this was the first of many miracles to come to us during quarantine! We knew that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were very aware of us!

Our other miracle/tender mercy is that throughout the last month we have felt more hope and love than before. We know everything is going to be okay and going to work out! We aren't as easily discouraged when things aren't working out, because we know that there is a way and God is going to show it to us!

Easter Message from President and Sister Mutombo

Dear Elders and Sisters,

Happy Easter to our dear and beloved companions.

Sister Mutombo and I, have been pondering this morning about Paul's teaching found in 1 Corinthians 15:14, he said: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

This simple truth confirms that Jesus Christ is the reason why you and we, have been called to serve  at this special time of our lives and that His Resurrection is at the core of our beliefs as His Disciples. Without it, our faith is meaningless.

I would like to invite you in this Easter Sabbath to remember the events that preceded His Death and His Resurrection and this is not a fable.

Think about how dark that Friday was when Christ was lifted up on the cross. On that terrible Friday the earth shook and grew dark. On that day the veil of the temple was rent in twain.

Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Jesus, were crying and their hearts were filled with grief and despair.

On that day the Apostles and Disciples of Jesus Christ were devastated, knowing not what to expect. Asking themselves, "What shall we do now."  That Friday was the darkest in the history of the world.

As disciples of Jesus Christ, each of us have also his own dark Fridays. When we feel alone, despair and can't find the purpose in what we are doing and feel lost. Dark Fridays filled with anxiety and depression.

To those that feel so, I want to raise my voice in this special day and testify to you that God is aware of your situation and feelings. Please ponder on these words:

Join 20: 15 - 17
15. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou?...
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews. They Heard Him, saying:
"Peace be unto you"

John 20:20-22
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: To the Apostles .

And in an instant the eyes that had been filled with ever-flowing tears dried. The lips that had whispered prayers of distress and grief now filled the air with wondrous praise, for Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God, stood before them as the firstfruits of the Resurrection, the proof that death is merely the beginning of a new and wondrous existence.

After this glorious and Divine experience, the disciples became renewed. They traveled throughout the world proclaiming the glorious news of the gospel.

They had chosen, they could have disappeared and returned to their former lives and occupations.

They could have denied the divinity of Christ. Yet they did not. In the face of danger, ridicule, and threat of death, they entered palaces, temples, and synagogues boldly proclaiming Jesus the Christ, the resurrected Son of the living God.

Many of them offered as a final testimony their own precious lives. They died as martyrs, the testimony of the risen Christ on their lips as they perished.

The Understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and His Resurrection transformed their lives

Do we feel likewise? Do we feel transformed by the Atonement of Jesus Christ and His Resurrection?

May God bless you all our dear companions in this wonderful Easter sabbath. Let us find joy in Christ and testify to the world of the reality of His matchless life and the infinite virtue of His great atoning sacrifice.

We love you,
President and Sister Mutombo
