The
new missionary meeting was held in Frederick Maryland. We were able to
practice our teaching skills and learn how to more fully teach in unity.
We learned so much from Assistant Elder Stone and Assistant Elder
Patterson from their breakouts and from President Mutombo's instructions
as well. That night, we were going along with our plans and while we
were deciding where to go, we saw a couple sitting outside of their
house. Even though we had scheduled plans, we decided to follow that
spiritual prompting and go talk to them. As it turned out, they already
had great faith in Jesus Christ. We related with them the restored
gospel of Jesus Christ. We explained simply the restoration as well as
the Book of Mormon - in the order that the spirit directed. We taught in
unity and listened to how the spirit wanted us to teach the message of
the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As we listen, Stan and
Leslie opened up about who they are. We briefly touched on temples and
how they could be sealed. As we read sections of the introduction, they
said they felt chills and we testify that it was the spirit confirming
truth to them. We invited them to be baptized if they came to know that
this was all true, and they said absolutely! We then committed them to
be baptized in the second weekend of August and they said they accepted!
What a miracle as we listened to the spirit and applied what we
learned!
