Senior Missionary Historic Cruise

15 June 2019
Greetings all;

Four Senior Missionary couples, from the Maryland Baltimore  Mission, Booked a  Chesapeake Bay Cruise on The SS W R Brown, a Liberty Ship built in 1942.  It is one of 5 remaining of the more than 2100 built between 1942-45. The Brown is a steam engine Cargo carrier built to support the World War ll military. We enjoyed about 6-hour trip filled with popular music of the 1940s. Comic routines and talks about the history of that era. Space in the ship is of the original character with tables and chairs set up on the Tween-Deck for lunch and guests were ask to bring camp chairs for the Top Deck. We failed to heed notice to bring Sun Screen and as a result, have some modest sunburn on our face, arms & necks.

Snacks of water, soda, and sweet rolls were provided. Lunch consisted of sandwiches, coleslaw, and Potato salad. Afternoon treats were cookies and Eskimo ice cream bars. We enjoyed simulated air attack by vintage aircraft which our Gunners firing blanks quickly dispatched.

It was a beautiful day cruising the Baltimore Harbor of the Chesapeake Bay.
